WhatsApp account restrictions
Check a WhatsApp account restriction and request a review when Meta offers one.
Read the restriction notice
Open the notice for the affected WhatsApp account and check which actions are restricted, the reason, and any expiry or review option. Restrictions vary by violation and account history. A duration shown in another business's case does not establish how long yours will last.
Meta's policy enforcement guide, checked on 20 October 2026, describes warnings, messaging restrictions, and account locks or disablement. Repeated violations can lead to further enforcement.
Pause affected campaigns while you investigate. Check recent messages against the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy, including customer permission, opt-out requests, and message content.
Check the account in Business Support Home
- Sign in to Meta Business Suite with access to the affected business.
- Open All tools → Business Support Home → Account Overview.
- Select the relevant messaging account and open its violation details.
- Read the available next steps for that specific violation.
Access and available actions depend on the account and violation. Some spam violations are not eligible for review.
Request a review when available
If the violation offers Request Review, open it, explain why you believe the decision should be reviewed, and provide the supporting details requested by Meta. Check the information before selecting Submit.
Follow the outcome in Business Support Home. A review can uphold or reverse the decision; submitting one does not guarantee that messaging will be restored. Use the status and instructions shown for your account instead of assuming a fixed response time.
For account-specific help, see messaging limits and support. If only an individual message fails, check its error first in Message undeliverable.
Reduce repeat problems
Review how contacts gave permission to receive messages and remove people who opted out from future sends. Check the audience and content before restarting campaigns. Monitor phone-number and template quality and follow any further instructions in the account notice.
